I’ve worked with lots of occupational therapists over the years and HOC is hands down (no pun intended) the best. Caring, competent and funny. Killer combination. I highly recommend Hands On Care.

I shattered my pinky finger last year and had surgery to put in a plate and screws. My surgeon at Stanford recommended HOC, and I’m happy he did. I felt silly going to physical therapy for a pinky (I mean, “it’s just a pinky”, right?) but little did I know how important that little sucker is. But you are expected to know the drill as a patient and go through your exercises while you wait to have manual therapy. I appreciate the no-nonsense attitude of HOC therapists. I’m not a patient to be coddled, but to get out of there as fast as possible and back to regular life again.
If you have hand, arm, shoulder issues, I highly recommend Hands On Care.

I really enjoyed my session. My therapist is able to balance other patients but doesn’t disrupt the time you are there. My OT is gentle and very kind. The facility is clean and the whole staff is very accommodating. The therapists all have good sense of humor too.

Looking back to the day that I fell…September 13, 2012, to where I am now…3 years later, it makes me become very emotional! Not in a bad way, but in a very good way, because I know that
I owe the use of my dominant right hand, fingers, arm, elbow replacement, and shoulder not only to my very skilled surgeon, Dr. Edward Damore, but also to all of the therapists who feverishly worked hard to help me to regain the rotation and movement that I currently have today. The job ahead of them was huge, because I shattered my elbow, broke my arm in two places, dislocated my arm, damaged nerves, tore ligaments, and had major surgery to reconstruct everything that falling on cement, elbow first, can do! Not only was I in a lot of pain from the aftermath of surgery, but something new came into the mix…swelling. I swelled so bad that I could barely move my arm and because it affected my hand and fingers the most, it was impossible for me to hold a pencil yet alone, make a fist. I was in a predicament where I was running out of time and answers. Dr. Damore knew that I came to the point where I needed to have dynamic splints and specialized therapy for my entire arm in order for my recovery to excel, so he referred me to HOC.
January 25, 2013, was my first appointment. My OT was very straight forward with me; no sugar coating!! I was about to embark on the ride of my life! How true, but my story had a very happy ending because I followed thes rules explicitly!
* I did all of the exercises that she told me to do in between my therapy sessions.
*I worked 10 to 12 hours religiously at home every day on my four dynamic splints over a period of 13 months.
*I went to all of my appointments faithfully and on time.
*I made sure that I took my pain medication on my visits with her.
I kept my pledge to be a good patient and in turn, she became the biggest catalyst in helping me to regain the use of my arm, hand, and fingers… not completely, but to the point where I can function just fine in my life.
My therapist went to work…stretching, massaging, and finally moving everything that was becoming atrophied and near frozen. She firmly, yet with compassion and respect for my pain levels, did everything she possibly could do for me during my therapy sessions. I immerged from every appointment, physically drained, but closer and closer to my healing. As for my extreme pain and swelling, HOC had the cure all for that too. She prescribed for me to have a wonderful unit in my home called an H-Wave, which not only took down the swelling, but also restructured my brain waves to feel less pain. The H-Wave drastically cut out most of my need for pain and inflammation medication while I was in therapy and helped to take me entirely off of medication after I was released from HOC’s care.
Rather than focusing on all of the inabilities that I was left with after that day I fell, I’d rather zoom in on what I’ve learned from being on this long and life changing journey I’ve been on. My faith in Jesus is what sustained me through everything and I know without any doubt, that everyone involved in my recovery was chosen by the Lord to help me. So speaking from my grateful heart, I want to tell you just how precious you are to me! You gave me back my life! Sure, I have to use more creative ways to do certain things, but the fact remains, I’m back among the living and I owe a great amount of my recovery to you! Thank you for all you’ve done for me. I love you and you’ll always be in my prayers.
Always…Kathy K 9/30/15

My therapist was right on the money. I had a follow-up with Dr. Brody to review the MRI and he did mention that I have laxity with respect to my ligaments – this is something that my OT had mentioned to me a long time ago without the MRI, she is a genius! 🙂

I received wrist and shoulder therapy from Hands on care and the treatment was great. They are the best. I have been able to schedule any time without any problem. Hands on care waiting time is no more than 5 minutes.

I’ve been to several hand therapists over the years and HOC is the best. I’ve had to go many times due to my severe arthritis, which causes painful flares. I’ve seen her for flares in both hands involving my thumbs and fingers as well as my elbows and shoulders.
The last flare I had was in my elbow and I stupidly went to a therapist close to my house because I could hardly drive, instead of going to HOC. They actually made me worse! When I saw my therapist my elbow was so bad my arm was completely immobile and I was in great pain. My therapist was amazing; in just one visit she greatly restored my range of motion and reduced my pain!
It’s always fun to go in there too. Everyone is laughing and it’s a really fun atmosphere. I always miss the therapists and the staff when I’ve stopped going.

If you are both greatly in need of post operative physical therapy for a broken wrist and lucky enough to have a caring surgeon who recommends the services of Hands-On-Care, heed your physician’s advice and schedule an appointment!
On day one, after conducting an initial patient evaluation and designing a care plan, an assigned therapist, whose depth of knowledge is incredible and the kindly and supportive HOC staff will begin their amazing work. Be ready, for you, too, will begin yours.
Dedicated to patient progress, HOC therapists literally provide hands-on-care, share their expertise, and teach patients a series of exercises designed to meet their individual needs. The exercises are done under supervision; however, they must also be done at home. Slacking off at home is counterproductive and the therapists will sense it in under a minute. Be advised, this is not a spectator sport; it is a team effort and you will be on the team.
Working with consistent, dedicated, and sustained effort, the therapists see each patient through the recovery process.
At times, the therapists will suggest the tiniest modification in a position or motion and that will lead to making significant strides and finding relief from pain and stiffness. The HOC team members are there to help. Be assured, they will also teach you how to help yourself.
Actively participate in your care and work through the pain. This will not be easy; however, being on a quest for recovery, you will come to realize that quitting is not an option. You will also come to realize that, even on the toughest of days, you are able to laugh.
In the end, you will feel so much better, be able to do so much more, and be so very grateful you sought the help of the skilled, knowledgeable, and good people at Hands-On-Care. Oh, and be prepared for, although you will be happy to one day finish your physical therapy, in my case after 59 sessions, on the last day, saying thank you will be very easy, but saying farewell will be very hard

Wow! What a great team Hands On Care has to help you regain the “ideal” range of motion you had before going there. The environment is healing and very open, thus contributes to the recovery process quickly. The staff at Hands On Care is fabulous, friendly and flexible. I would recommend Hands On Care for their effective treatment modalities in a heartbeat! Thanks all for your expertise and patience!

I could barely move my hand/finger after my surgery for carpel tunnel and trigger finger. I couldn’t believe how they worked on me and I actually got the hand & finger to work again. It does seem way too busy as though they over book and the therapist that works on you works on 2-4 people at a time and gets distracted easily. I think the care they provide works for everyone though.
