Michelle Chu, OTR/L
Michelle has been an occupational therapist since 2017. Prior to doing the Mentorship program at Hands-On Care, she worked in hand therapy at Sutter Health in San Carlos and Palo Alto for two years. She presented on HTA-CA in October 2020 on treating COVID-related upper extremity injuries.
She developed an interest in upper extremity rehabilitation when seeing the complexity of upper extremity injuries, and recognizing the need for having functional upper extremities to maintain independence in daily activities. Since the upper quadrant is complex, she sought training at Hands on Care to enrich her education further and treat patients accurately. She completed her hand therapy mentorship at this location under the guidance of all the therapists.
She enjoys working with the elderly population treating non-complex upper quadrant diagnoses related to contractures, arthritic pain, wrists and elbows injuries etc.
Michelle is currently working to gain the knowledge and skills to advance to board certification as a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT).
